Did you know that you can have custom shirts and custom pitches in your formations? Learn more...
I have noticed that a lot of people worry about defending, and they are right defending is important in football, but defending doesn't score goals, and you need to score goals to win. But, something that is true is that the best defense is the best offense. I am not saying that you need to overload the box with 8 attackers, but in able to be successful in football you need to have an equilibrium between attacking and defending and that is why all successful teams are not super offensive, and not super defensive. The point is that I made this formation for the people that worry about getting scored on. With a back 5 and a 5 men midfield this formation makes scoring for the opposition unscorable. Also just in case a ball slips behind the center-backs, there is a sweeper to get the ball. This is a very good formation for defending, the opposition will first have to beat the midfield to get to the defense. So, I truly recommend this formation if teams want to defend.
5-5-0? are you out of your mind?
those teams can play a 4-5-1 and their net is clean. You dont let the Defenders the top number. you should make the Mid. are the top number because you make everything by the midfielders.Right? the midfielders attack and defend if its 5 mid. then its ok. and also there will be a room for a Counter Attack.
There is nothing wrong with having a 5 man defense, and if you need more midfield power just make the sweeper move up to midfield as a defensive midfielder. To tell you the truth you really don't need strikers to attack, you can just make the center-midfielders go up as strikers and still score goals. Also there is always room for a counter attack, no team in the world is counter attack proof unless they don't attack. But, you are right teams play with a 4-5-1 and their net is clean, but if you want to defend and not attack this is your formation.
With this formation, you really have a good chance of a counter attack. The opposition would be pushing forward against this formation leaving space behind them. Soaking up pressure and winning the ball in your own half would leave the opposition stretched in their half. Quick midfielders should then have the run at their defense as long as the ball can be moved forward quick enough.
Another plus with this is the confusion you would cause the opposition defense. Do they push up against your midfielders or sit back with nobody to mark?
Thx Redrebel, maybe all those years of running around like a headless chicken on a Saturday are finally paying off.
Actually, in my case it was more like spending every Saturday on a freezing cold bench!
