CaptainGerardI saw this funny 1-1-8 formation th other day, so did this to see what their starting line up may look like.

I must say, this looks more impressive than I imagined. If they can find a good rythm, they might indeed break into top 4 at the expense of gooners.

Thoughts?

Robert O'CarlosThe thing that might (might) do for City this season is if they have a lacklustre start to the campaign while trying to gel players together, and the bosses decide Hughes isn't a big enough manager to handle these players. Then you'd be looking at a team having to find a new rhythm halfway through a season.
:-)

I can certainly see Hughes being one of the possible early sackings. Would be a shame not to give this setup a real chance at finding its feet though.

If City are going to threaten the so called 'top 4' this season, it can only be at Arsenal's expense. The others would still be stronger than this team. But Wenger has had his hands tied for too long because of the lack of funds after building the Emirates and Arsenal are in real danger of imploding.

nvrI don't want to sound bitter about our ex players, but Adebayor and Toure seemed past their best last season. With a partnership with Tevez and Robinho, Adebayor might turn things around. But I don't see Toure performing any better. Dunne-Toure does not seem any better than Gallas-Toure to me.

On the other hand, there's good chance that Arsenal might slip from the top four if reinforcements do not arrive. But the real threat will come from Villa and Everton I suppose.

CaptainGerardI guess Hughes is aware of Dunne-Toure's shortcomings and trying to lure Lescott.

FeriAtsArsenal sold Senderos to Everton. It's obvious that Moyes is preparing for departure of Lescott. Great piece of business for them, if they manage to sell Lescott for the reported amount of £20M.

nvrCity could have bought Senderos instead. I don't see Lescott being 5 times better than him. Lescott just had the benefit ot playing in a very defensive set up in Everton.

Robert O'CarlosLescott obviously wants the move but Everton have made a point of telling him publicly that he won't be sold to City. And City have put a 4 day deadline on any deal.

Not convinced that deal will happen. Once again, City have to settle for their second choices.

CaptainGerardThey had Lescott at the end, didn't they? But I don't know how good that is after they let Dunne go. They still don't have squad depth in thier defensive line.
