January transfer rumours

  • FeriAts @ 11.11.2009

I'll start with my rant about Robinho. Appearently Barcelona are interested in him. He's talented, no doubt about it. But isn't it proven, time and time again, that he is inconsistent and not to be trusted.

Barcelona should not have a burning desire for his type of player and yet they are prepared to pay £6M just to sign him on loan. Is this about the El Classico?

  • SpaceGhost @ 11.11.2009

It's surprising that Guardiola is entertaining the idea - I think if Robinho had already been at Barca when Pep took over he would have been one of the players transferred out.

    Sure hope Fábregas stays put.

  • FeriAts @ 12.11.2009

Yes, I don't see it being any different than Ronaldinho affair.

Fabregas will eventually return to Barca. It's probably not going to be this January.

  • nvr @ 12.11.2009

So, you and Cesc are mates? :)

There's a talk of Akinfeev and ManU. Ferguson has a taste for goalies, I must admit.

  • hcho @ 12.11.2009

Cudducini broke his wrist(s) in a motorcycle accident(just today). Spurs will be in the market for a keeper.

  • Robert O'Carlos @ 12.11.2009

I'd expect the Akinfeev deal to go through for the fact that he'd be hoping for first team action leading up to the World Cup, if no other reason. For the same reason, I wouldn't know what Pavlyuchenko might be thinking.

Fabregas is an interesting one. He's been saying for years he'd be off unless Arsenal started to win trophies.

Not heard that Barca were keen on Robinho on a loan deal. He could flourish in Spain - not such a tough league for forwards.
    :-)

  • liver4ever @ 25.11.2009

aguero from athletico madrid might go to man utd.ribery from athletico madrid might go to real madrid.

  • Robert O'Carlos @ 07.12.2009

The Akinfeev to United story has run a bit cold. The word seems to be that United are looking at Neuer now. Also I think United would rather look at a deal for Silva, and possibly Villa, from Valencia than Aguero. There has been talk that Liverpool were also interested in Villa, but reports in Spain say he's unimpressed by their recent results so not sure that's a runner.
    :-)

Traditionally, January is not usually known for many big name moves. Maybe some interesting ones with the World Cup coming up though.

    Ben Foster to Spurs?

  • Robert O'Carlos @ 09.12.2009

Sol Campbell to United - although that might happen now, during United's defender crisis, rather than January.
    :-)

  • nvr @ 09.12.2009

Ridiculous :) Campbell hasn't played a competitive game since months and given his age, it will take him forever to find his form.

I wish Campbell well but let's face it, he's only good for teams south of the table.

  • Robert O'Carlos @ 14.12.2009

Yep, Ferguson has trashed talk of any deal for Campbell. Wenger, on the other hand, has hinted there may be an amazing return to the Emirates. Campbell is currently training with Arsenal, and might consider rejoining Arsenal on a vastly reduced financial contract. Not sure if that would make Arsenal 'south of the table' tho!
    :-D

Also, Arsenal in for Rafael van der Vaart is one new rumour.
    :-)

  • FeriAts @ 14.12.2009

Just what Arsenal needs, another creative midfielder. Huntelaar would have suited well, but AC Milan were quick to snap him.

Any half decent strikers available to Arsenal? I'd say Pavlyuchenko but Tottenham wouldn't be happy to let him go th their archrivals.

  • Zola @ 15.12.2009

According to Daily Express, Chelsea are interested in Rob Green because they are unhappy with Cech's preformance.

is there a Best Bullshit of the Year type of contest where I can nominate this?

  • nvr @ 05.01.2010

City are interested in signing Vieira, if the papers are to be believed. It will be interesting to see Paddy in Premier League again.

  • Robert O'Carlos @ 12.01.2010

Sol Campbell to re-sign (or should that be resign? ;-D) for Arsenal on Tuesday.

  • FeriAts @ 13.01.2010

I guess it is the first time Arsene Wenger signs one of his ex-players. I guess Silvestra and Senderos' lack of form might have played a part.

On a more general note, is this the quitest ever January transfer window, or what? Must be the big freeze.

  • nvr @ 13.01.2010

I am reading a piece of news saying Liverpool will pay £25M for Chamakh. Even Benitez can't get it that wrong; the chap has 6 months on his contract...

  • Robert O'Carlos @ 15.01.2010

His market value is given as around 12-13m mark. Smacks of desperation on Benitez's part to me.
