RoberticusRe: Tardelli's position, from the 70s until at least the mid-8os, most Italian sides played a lopsided and slightly more open version of catenaccio called 'gioco all'italiana' or 'zona mista'. It was a precursor of the 3-5-2/5-3-2 systems that would become popular from the 80s onwards. Cabrini was like a modern full-back whereas Tardelli was a box-to-box midfielder starting nominally on the right. Later, when this system became more symmetrical, then yes, the Tardelli-type player would become a wing-back, or else be replaced by a right-footed bersion of Cabrini
