Chelsea rebuild?

  • Hickey92 @ 18.03.2010

Might seem a bit too much of a reshaping but still...
    Soryy bout lines on sheet..

  • Zola @ 18.03.2010

This squad rebuild thing is really scary. I'd rather have the squad reinforced instead of rebuilt.

I don't think we have a weakness in the back four. It was just unlucky that we were caught to Inter when we have a lot of injuries and off pitch problems with Terry.

I guess we need some more though guys in the midfield. We rely on Essien too much. He's a great player but he gets injured and/or suspended every now and then. We really need cover in that department.

Abramovitch said he will rather invest in younger and promising players than big stars. He looks like he has learned his lesson from transfers like Ballack.

  • Robert O'Carlos @ 20.03.2010

I'd be surprised if there were as many as 5 first choice additions. I could see di Maria and Gourcuff happening out of the changes you have here, but who knows?
    :-)

Kjaer commented this week he'd welcome interest from United or Liverpool. Not sure if that means he wouldn't welcome it from West London.

One change I think could be very likely is between the sticks. Cech has been publicly criticised this season by the Chelsea hierarchy.

Di Maria plays on the left wing strictly, right?

  • Robert O'Carlos @ 29.03.2010

Although he's been most often used on the left, I think Di Maria could play well enough from the right, coming infield to support Drogba through the middle. He's too talented to stay out near the touchline at any rate. That would leave the wing open for an attacking right back.

One of the things that strikes me about this team is the fact that Lampard, who hasn't been dead wood for Chelsea, is missing. With Lampard coming in from his slightly left sided midfield position and Di Maria drifting infield, this team would be very strong through the middle.

Probably put Frank where Essien is and Essien where Fernando is.

I'm assuming we're talking Fernando Menegazzo?

  • yytt @ 03.04.2010

di maria is googd and i think you have choosed the players i wold choose

"I'm assuming we're talking Fernando Menegazzo"

Fernando from Bordeaux preferably although Fernando from porto is good too, see how weak they were without him in the second leg v Arsenal.

Lampard has played well recently since the Inter game, maybe he's not finished like i thought he was..
