Comments? Squad is a bit weak as I don't have defensive cover in terms of fullbacks - if Cissokho or Maicon get injured I'm screwed. Probably could have dropped someone like Senna and put in a fullback, but oh well.
Is this for a game? I'd be very suprised to see Adebayor and Gerard at anyone's 11 of the season.
This is a current player draft team - not a season team. A draft works in this fashion: players draw lots from 1 to however many are in the draft (there were 9 of us in the draft). The player drawn 1st gets to pick first, 2nd second and so on - I drew number 8 which means I get to pick eighth.Once a player is picked you can't pick him again. At the start of the second round, once everyone has picked a player, the draft order is inverted, so the person picking last gets to pick first and so on. Every round the draft is inverted. Obviously, Messi was picked first. I picked up Xavi at 8 and Gerrard at 11 overall (my second pick) Aguero at 26th (my third pick) Maicon at 29 (my fourth pick) and so on. I picked up Adebayor at 47 overall, meaning there were 46 players picked before him. Picking up Gerrard at 11 overall and Adebayor at 47 is pretty good value, well I reckon anyway.
Apologies - a little confusing with my terminology in the previous post - there are contestants in the draft, not 'players' the players are the people who are picked, Gerrard, Xavi etc. There were 9 contestants in our draft - we had to pick a squad of 18, with 1 spare GK and also a manager (to make 19 total). Forgot to add my manager was Fabio Capello. As I said the order of the draft is inverted after every round, as this is the fairest way to do it.
Got it, like the American professional sports. And what happens next? Do you win points on what your players do that week? Like in fantasy football leagues?
Well, I guess you could do it that way, but we are just putting our squads/teams/formations up on a forum and getting people to vote for them. You can find the full squads from all the players on this (see link below) forum - top three threads will have them. Have a look and see which squad you think is best - I think one contestant (not myself) did pretty well, but I think most of the squads are a bit imbalanced:
