klopkklklopWell... It doesn't look great, but hopefully they'll buy some new players by then.

The offense looks great , and I really hope they stop spending money on more forwards.

The midfield might have some potential. But it isn't good enough. Kevin Prince does have some potential, but I'm not sure he has the level to play in a top European club.
Strasser is very young, but I have to say the same about him as said about Prince.
Flamini is just pure crab so i hope they buy someone instead of him.

The defence is OK, but not great. Thiago Silva is great and i really hope they'll keep him. Papastathopoulos, not so much, but CB often top in a late age, so he could bring it to something.
I acctually think Abate is all right, and will be able to bring it to something.
I don't know Didac, but I've hurt great things about him and his quite young, otherwise Emanuelson semms all right.

And they need a new keeper. Their current keppers are too old, and their youth keepers don't seem great

nvrDo Milan still matter? Actually, do Italian clubs still matter? Unless they have an exceptional coach, like Inter last year, they belong to second tier of European football IMHO.

18.02.2011

klopkklklopOf course Italian clubs still matter, they might not have the same level as they did 3 years ago, but that happens in sports. You could compare it to English football. Between Man U's win in 99 and Liverpools win in 2005, English football wasn't nearly as great as it is now. Where both Spanish, German and Italian football had much better leagues.

BTW the Italian league is still the third best league in the world

dragonulteoAbbiatti as goalkeeper

nvrEnglish football was still recovering from effects of Heysel till mid noughties. 99 was a sign of things to come and 05 was the turning point. Not comparable situations IMHO.

Italian football is rife with corruption, their style of game is not sexy(hence lower broadcasting money) and they do not have the global appeal.

21.02.2011

klopkklklopMilan is recovoring from the scandal from 2006. Where Serie A was on the same level La Liga and Premiere League, if not better.

I'll admit Italian football isn't sexy like English and Spanish football. But their great traditions are quite appealing. Italy has the best history in CL, and Milan the 2nd best after Real. Also, Milan, Inter and Juve all belong in a top 10 list of the best European tems through history

21.02.2011

nvrI asked if Italian clubs still matter. Today they lost their spot to Germans, in 2012/13 season there will only be 3 in CL.

trane333^ I must have missed it, but when did Arsenal win the CL? When was Arsenal last in the CL final?

paadfootWell...
I think AC Milan - and the other big Italian clubs - does still matter! If Juventus recovers from the scandals a few years ago, they have the quality, the tradition and the fans to be huge again. Inter and Milan aren't in such a bad shape as Juventus, and they can prove to be tricky opponents in this Champions League.

This Milan team, with Abbiatti as a goalkeeper this season (but I don't believe he will hold on another season), is a good team! Except for Abate on the right, they have top players, and two - yeah, in my opinion only two - world class players in Thiago Silva and Ibrahimovic.

Taiwo is a good left back, and Mexés is a great defender, probably, with Thiago Silva and Lúcio, the best defender in the Serie A. Flamini, unfortunately now injured, is a great player as well and I find him a very 'modern' holding midfielder, as he can play with the ball almost as well as whithout the ball.

We all know that Aquilani can play at top level as long as he is fit and has pizza for dinner, so no questions there. Emanuelson, or if the Rossoneri do sign Montolivo, is a good replacement for Seedorf, even if not as classy as his fellow countryman. Prince is a piano carrier (at least that is what we call players like him here in Brazil, that aren't as technichally gifted, but they run and sacrifice themselves for their team's sake).

Pato still needs to prove himself as a world class player, and I believe that he will do so if he is fortunate enough to remain fit for more than 1 month. Well, Ibrahimovic can raise many arguments about his quality, but I find him a great player.

david1993@padfoot thats a better team than the one above but i thing needs changeing is

price out on the wing and aqualini behind front 2 as that suits him better and makes him have better impact
