RFMHChelsea's main issue this season seems to be, confidence. If they get the first goal, they seem to kick on quite effectively, but the longer they go without the first goal the more nervy they get. The solution, use your most attack minded players.

ZolaMost realistic starting line up suggestion of recent times. We shouldn't start Anelka, Drogba and Torres, just because they are available.

ZolaBTW, isn't Zhirkov a leftie?

22.02.2011

klopkklklopyes he is

ZolaMate, it was a rhetorical question..

22.02.2011

RFMHNot really an issue is it? Yossi would be there if he was fit. Chelsea seriously lack wide players.

22.02.2011

ZolaIt actually is. You'd want someone who can whip the ball into the box pretty precisely. Not something a leftie can do from that position.

RFMHAshley Young, Bellamy, Glen Johnson, Messi, Downing, Adam Johnson, Silva. All have had varying degrees of success playing on the wing opposite to their preferred foot.

Besides cutting inside the crosses would be in-swinging more effective for me (like with Corners and free kicks).

ZolaCutting inside is effective if you can deploy it with some element of surprise. If it's the only trick up your sleeve, the defenders will read you like a book. I don't think Zhirkov is that talented with the ball. He seems to be the work horse type.

RFMHWell like I said, Chelsea lack in that area, in part because Yossi is still out but also no real depth.

NovoxIssue is the fact that playing Drogba and Torres might sound like a good idea but they both thrive by playing through the center, which means that they both eat eachothers space.

Personally, I would prefer using Anelka and Torres. Also, Copenhagen game proved, Essien and Lampard together doesn't work as they both push forward too much and leaves them vulnerable.
