RedRae7Without Anderson in the side, United lack cohesiveness going forwards, not to mention penetration due to the fact the less powerful Berbatov is deployed up to alone whereas last year we had the luxury of a fit and firing Wayne Rooney.

Could this formation be the secret weapon Fergie has up his sleeve, one that is capable of playing the football many MUFC fans have been crying out for this season and could it be effective in the big matches, or is it too attack-minded? Its basically Berbatov as the attacking midfielder in a trio rather than Gibson/Anderson.. I think personally that makes it worth the risk.

GeorgieWasTheBestDid SAF ever started Rooney, Berbatov and Chicarito together? Besides Rooney gets a bit grumpy when not playing in his preferred position.

RedRae7Don't think he has off the top of my head. SAF has deployed Rooney on the left anyway for big games regardless of Waynes take on it, so I don't see why having Chico in the side would make him a tad more grumpy.. the side badly needs penetration especially with that central midfield pairing.

GeorgieWasTheBestI'd not say we need anything badly at this moment, just have a look at the table.

Our football is not as glorious as it used to be when Ronaldo was around. That's only to be expected IMHO.

RFMHI don't think Berbatov could play that role effectively, if anything i'd swap Hernandez and Berbatov around, Hernandez would end up in those positions in the box to nick a goal eventually anyway.

All fit I think Berb and Hernandez would duke it out with Valencia taking over on the left wing with Rooney playing in the hole.

tariroremove roony and put park. roony has no skill for a winger. berbertov is best up front and anderson behind striker

CheYassinIn theory it would work yes, but of course Rooney would naturally want to come inside, making the middle a lot more congested. Add to this the fact that Nani also naturally comes inside, and with the width being provided by the full backs it would be nothing more that Chelsea's diamond formation where it would be very hard to find width. Add to the fact that Evra is not a very capable crosser and Rooney would need to cut inside a lot. I think, no. Sorry Raees. I rate you still though
