TFCBloggerThis year FC Dallas seems to have a lot of new players and I have not kept up with their recent games. MLS has discontinued publishing formations in the match summary section of their site. Probably for the best as it was incorrect most times. However, I was able to find a good FC Dallas blog with formation/tactics that I was able to use to help me find my way (link below under Sources). FC Dallas seem to use a 4-4-1-1 and I'm excited to see them play as it looks like they have a lot of South American players who could add some flair. Too bad David Ferreira is injured and has been out for some time.

dankrzyzThis has been the most effective setup for FC Dallas this year and last. Ferreira's injury was a significant loss for the club, but Avila has the speed and explosiveness to fill that attacking midfielder role. I was at the LA Galaxy game and, despite the weather, he looked to be the man for the job.

Castillo on the wing? That might work well. Shea at fullback? It should be interesting, if that's what Schellas decides. Shea is always a nail-biting wildcard whenever (and where ever) he is on the pitch.

TFCBloggerI'm very interested in this game and it could be very open based on both teams attacking style. Now that your buiding up Avila I really want to see him in action.

dankrzyzAvila's role last year was "sub in around the 75th minute and run like hell". I'm interested to see how he holds up over the course of a full game, and full season. He's young and is no Ferriera, but that's a key spot in the team for FC Dallas.

dankrzyzFC Dallas might make a switch to a 4-4-2, considering all the injuries they've had. Potentially a Castillo/Rodriguez pair up top, bumping Avila to the left winger spot, perhaps.

TFCBloggerLooks like it was 4-5-1 with no Avila but it was effective. Hydnman knows his tactics.
