klopkklklopMan U in their, in my opinon best formation, of 4-4-2 with Rooney going back to recieve the ball, as we so often see him. May be missing Nani, but as it looks like, with Ferguon's latest starting formation in the grand games, he prefers Valencia, Park and also Giggs for that matter. Rafael and Fabio are pretty much even, but again it has mostly been Fabio playing in the grand games since Rafaels injury.
And Fletcher is Ferguson's number one in midfield so if he's fit, as I expect him to be, heis a sure starter. And Chicharito has proven he is ahead of Berbatov, in being Rooney's number one partner.

And Barca in their classic 4-3-3, where i expect Abidal to be close 100% fit, otherwise maybe Maxwell will be, or as third opportunity we'll probably see Mascerano start and Puyol play as a LB. And for those who prefer Mascherano or maybe even Keita over Busquets I think Guardiola has made it obvious who he prefers.

ZolaMuch more realistic than other lineups on this site.

Barcelona's starting line-up is very predictable apart from injuries. The same cannot be said for Man U, especially for their midfiled. Giggs and Valencia will surely start. Who will be the other two is anyone's guess.

Proffessional_Ameteur_REDSeems plausible. Will we play Fletcher to win the ball and stop their plays, or Carrick in a vain attempt to retain more possession?

+ I think Fletcher's distribution is underrated.

JimmyGuitaristManchester United should play a 4-3-3 as well. The 4-4-1-1(2) formation is just to rigid really. They looked good when they used the 4-3-3. They've been boring to watch in the Premier when they've used 4-4-2.
Barcelona will dominate the match, but you never know with there defence against counter-attacks. If Manchester are gonna win, it'll be through a counter-attack.

Proffessional_Ameteur_REDI would rather we were rigid and boring but Hernandez scores 2 on the break against arguably the best team ever

JimmyGuitaristBeing rigid, negative and boring is the worst tactic to use against Barcelona. If Barcelona score first, they'll tear them apart. Manchester United arn't usually a defensive, boring team though, and Ferguson has already said that Man U are gonna "attack, attack and attack."

Proffessional_Ameteur_REDCan someone explain to me how playing 2 strikers instead of 1 is negative...?

17.05.2011

ZolaBarcelona is actually playing with no strikers and 3 attacking players. You know, neither of Messi, Pedro and Villa are true strikers.

Manchester United on the other hand plays with one striker and one attacking player(not that Rooney can't play as a striker, but Ferguson uses him in a deeper role)

That's what's negative compared to Barcelona.

Proffessional_Ameteur_REDany team in the world is negative COMPARED to barcelona.

ZolaI'd agree with you. I think all this negative football talk comes from Mourinho playing a very defensive style against Barca in the last 4 games.

mojojojo101I wonder when people will stop relating no. of strikers to how 'positive' a team is... It does play a part but its much more about mentality, pressing and willingness to push forward. Barca have been beaten a couple of times this season but its not only by teams who hav attacked them, Hercules played them on the counter, sat very deep and still managed to win 2-0, There is also the obvious example of Inter last year (over two legs).

I still think Carrick will start his positional play may prove invaluable against the movement of Messi into the whole. I think Rio and Vidic will want to avoid gettin caught high up the pitch to avoid the threat of pace from Pedro, Villa and Alves. I think that its more likely that Fletcher or Anderson will partner him though, thier energy will be more helpful against Xavi/Iniesta imo.

Proffessional_Ameteur_REDIn my opinion, playing Hernandez and Rooney is more attacking than when we play Rooney in a false 9 role. Mainly because we are lacking in AMs like Iniesta and Advanced playmakers like Xavi. People are saying Rooney will be the key man, or Hernandez will be the key man. Personally I agree with mojo that Carrick will be very very important. He was a big factor in our defeat last time. If he plays well, then we could do it.
