Another option in our defence

  • Janne H @ 08.10.2011

I am anxious to see the day when AVB leaves Bosingwa out. Ok, Bos been great but only when goin forward. He is so bad in setpieces and so bad in defence. He has been great in his runs but his crosses are bad. We need mutch more solid defender and mutch more better crosses. Luiz is great defender and he is good going forward. He has this natural ability to score and he is very technical player. Ball control, passes, crosses are very good. He also have history playing in RB LB position so its not a problem. Ivanovic is a rocksolid defender and i also think he is good when he goes forward, he is more natural CB so why not try this lineup. We could also chance our lineup during game. Iva and Luiz can change positions and roles. I think we saw perfect example in Bolton game about how Luiz Iva partnership could work. When Bos went forward and Bolton defense followed him,Luiz had space to go forward and he created many very good attacks. Why not try this with Iva and Luiz, then we have stronger defensive line and mutch more quality in crosses and passes. What do you think about this? Say your opinion and your option in our defensive play.

Just to play devil's advocate, Luiz is not that great of a defender, at least not yet. He has a timing issue with his tackles and always liable to leaving Chelsea with 10 men.

The problem with Bosingwa is more to do with his lack of game time. He had a nasty injury and missed a lot of games. If he puts 10 or so games under his belt, he will be his former good self.

I am not saying that your formation won't work, it's a good option to have.

Agree with the terrible defence display since the arrive of AVB, I think that a defensive high line just will never fit our defence, you really need pacey CB to do that.. Also we've lost our set pieces threat in attack and also defending them.. But in the balance, I think Chelsea is having a positive development with AVB just look how we've progress in football display, both posession and pace.. Conclusion, I would say that isn't really bosingwa's guilt, is something more about the defence as a unit and the problem with the highline, that surely will be bring us more headaches in the next matches. Against Liverpool I would favoured Ivanovic, more defence minded that Luiz, and also bosingwa in RB because Kuyt isn't a great threat.. PS: for me Mikel is foundamental, always underrated but one of the most important players..

Lol: Everton from liverpool* I confused because of the kits in your post sorry

David Luiz it's a top player and can do well as a CB or RB, with your option, the defense will look more solid, but I guess that we would lack width from right side, because we don't have a natural right winger (either Anelka or Sturridge) and because Luiz doesn't gave you the constant out ball like bosingwa, a more natural RB.

  • Janne H @ 10.10.2011

There is a many comments about Luiz, he is not naturar RB and about his timing. First of all we havent seen how he could do in RB role, he have natural skill to go forward and he can give the ball forward. We have seen it many times

I think we all can see in this video that his timing is good, he can be nasty to our enemies and he is mutch more solid in defense than Bosingwa.

in this goal we see that he can bring the ball out and he can be very effective in attack.

  • Janne H @ 10.10.2011

We have also seen many times how good balls he can give to our attacking line and that he can score amazing goals. But thats not the point, Bosingwa never been good in defense and solid defensive line we can get with Luiz and without losing our attacking strenght.

  • Janne H @ 10.10.2011

We also have option in our rightwing and thats Mata, we can play Mata in right and Malouda left and then our rightside is strong. But i dont agree that sturridge is not natural RW...ok not maybe natural but he is adapting very well and he can become very good in that position.

  • Zola @ 11.10.2011

His timing problem is a more general issue than his ability to play as a RB though. He's been lucky so far, the refs didn't book him for a couple of tackles he put in. My worry is if he plays as an RB he'll be 1 on 1 with quicker players and his tackles might cost him a red card.

  • Janne H @ 11.10.2011

We dont know that if we dont try to use him in RB. I believe he wont trouble us as mutch Bosingwa does.

  • Zola @ 12.10.2011

Apparently figures in the club are not in the same opinion with you about Bosingwa, as there are news he was offered a contract extension today.

  • Janne H @ 12.10.2011

Old news and yes im not AVB but we will suffer with Bosingwa and they wont need me to tell that. They will see that with their own eyes. I actually think AVB saw that already against Bolton and changed him to Ivanovic. But we will see.
