FutureFiyinRooney has been a shadow of the striker he was last season. This season he's taken more of an assisting role instead of a goal-scoring one. As a midfielder you will see all of Rooney's powers come into place. His passing and vision, his tackling and his stamina. With the addition of Rooney to the midfield this would mean there are world class players in each area of the field. The addition of Lewandowski would not only ease the goal scoring off of van Persie's chest, but it would signify to the whole of Europe that Man U are aiming for the stars.
Lewandowski's goal and assist tally this season has been incredible, he is currently leading the goal scoring chars with 30 league goals. His addition would allow RvP to stay up field instead of dropping deep where he is ineffective. Plus he has a lot of champions league experience meaning he'll be already acclimatised to the type of fast paced football and won't buckle under pressure. he would also be able to adapt to the Premier League as he is strong and quick, he can pick up some of the goals if van Persie has a bad run of form like he's having now.
To partner Rooney in midfield would be Strootman. although Carrick has been excellent this season, we cannot keep relying on a player who is turning 32 next season. With Strootman in the team he can replicate those famous Yaya Toure runs from deep. Plus he would be perfect to partner Rooney as it would be a "destroyer" - "play-maker" combination in midfield. Man United's most successful period came when they had a ball-winner. This is a player who when not in possession will hunt for the ball. Back then it was Roy Keane and it proved fruitful. With Srootman in the team he will be that ball winner someone who will get us the ball and give it to Rooney for hom to launch an attack.
the center back pairing would be evans and jones. the reason I've gone with jones is because the number of times he has played at center back he has excelled, the Manchester derby is a terrific example of what he has to offer. given a seasons experience, he could become England's best defender. plus there's never been a defender so hungry for the balland put his body on the line like jones since vidic. along with evans it would be the start of a formidable partnership.
at left back I've opted for baines. with baines at left back all or most of the defensive frailties would be abolished. evra yeas has scored a lot of goals, but that is not his first job. his first job is to make sure that everything is tidy at the back first. baines is arguably the premier league's and England's best left back. at everton almost nothing gets past him. at international level he's formed an almost telepathic relationship with the united players. young especially. but out of everything he'd offer a better option at left back. a 10mill pound offer plus giving them buttner on a season loan would benefit both parties involved. wingers would be young on the left and Valencia on the right. young plays very well despite his stats. he plays for the team and combines well with others. Valencia hasn't had the greatest of seasons but we all know it only takes one or two good performances to change a players fortunes. Valencia on his day can absolutely destroy defences with his directness and crossing he can be a game changer.
to finish my team I have the usual mr. consistent Rafael, who I think has been our player of the season and in goals de gea who has has benn fantastic since the turn of the year and shows us what's still to come.
And my captain would be Rooney as he already has good leadership qualities. Plus it would be a long time coming.
