Is it always a good thing to bring defenders up into the opponent's 18 yard box when your team has earned a corner or a free kick deep in the opponent's attacking third?
Depends on the scoreline, the opponent and the defenders in hand. If you are 2-0 up and it's 5 minutes to the final whistle, you'd rather not. If you are 1-0 down...You get the picture.
Many defenders are not good finishers. How many corners do Manchester United get? How many does Ferdinans score? They are just there to make up nembers, me thinks.
It makes sense now. But that leads to another question - what if your defenders are a bit on the smallish side?
Then you have bigger problems than attacking. How do you defend set pieces with smallish men?
Your set piece expert also matters too. Can he deliver with precission? If yes, do not worry, you'll not get caught off guard too much.
