It's interesting to me that you call this a 4-4-1-1 so quickly. The most interesting part is probably that when you look at Nani, Giggs, and then Carrick, they form a diagonal line and sort of the same for Rooney, Tevez, and Ronaldo. If you were to advance the attacking players in the direction of the arrows to where they are pointing it almost seems like this would take more of a 4-1-4-1 shape with Carrick as the lone holding mid.
Surely looks like 4-1-4-1 to me too. Or, in the new footballing parlance and given the way United often look to play, this could turn out to be a 4-1-5-0.
