nvrI was watching the Emirates cup over the weekend and witnessed Wilshere's fantastic game. The boy had signs of making it big last year already. But now, at only 17, he seems to be ready for the prime time. His game reminds me of more continental number 10s.

After Theo Wallcott, he's the second player Arsene Wenger has produced for the English national team. Not bad for a manager, who fielded the first all non English squad, eh?

FeriAtsThe boy is impressive, I give you that. But do not forget, Emirates Cup is just a pre season tournament. You don't see harsh tackles, shoulder charges, sneaky fouls etc... These things generally break youngsters.

Walcott was too impressive a couple of years back. Did he change anything in Arsenal's fortunes last year?

prekazii was gonna say that arsenal had a really unfortunate year this year and defend walcott, but he didn't really change much in England's fortune either did he?

Robert O'CarlosIf Capello calls him up for the England squad in anything other than a reasonably easy friendly within 2/3 years, I'll be calling for Fabio's head. Made that mistake with Walcott before.

AD1000Not to get ahead of ourselves but he has the best technique of an english youngster since Rooney and the skill of Gascoigne. Obviously there is a long road ahead of him, but his potential is enormous.

nvrWith the hindsight, Sven's decision was a setback for Walcott's progress. He was under the spotligt far too early for my liking.

Capello generally calls player who regularly play for their club sides. If Wilshere plays in 30 or so games, and Capello does not call him, I'll call for his head :)

RoberticusWith Walcott, the worrying thing is that he only started playing football (as in even kicking it around with mates, or in school) at 13 years of age. Before that, he lived for athletics. And this shows, Wenger is still trying to literally teach him football.

But with Wilshere, he looks like a born footballer, a real cerebral player too.

nvrHow does it show? I haven't seen anything goofy with Walcott.

RoberticusIt shows in his decision making. For example, Messi was playing football since he was a little kid. Hence, Wenger's got a massive task ahead of him (and remember Arsene reckons he could be better than Messi) if he's gonna compress all the acquired footballing knowledge into him. I still believe Walcott can become a very good player, just nowhere near as good as Wenger believes he can be.

Wilshere on the other hand..

nvrWenger is completely off the mark with his comparison. If I were to compare Walcott to someone, it would be Henry.
