He could have stayed till January. 3 months without football and he'll need a couple to get fit again. He'll have about 3 months to impress Capello. His chances are very very slim.

Even assuming Rio and King are out through injury, there are better players to choose from.

But the given reason he walked out was not to fight for an England place, which is just a smokescreen for having made a risky snap decision. It was because certain promises of ambition made to him were not fulfilled. How he can come to that conclusion in 4 weeks I don't know but there you go.
