This is really a 442, Giggsie and Ronaldo playing on the flanks.

sp88I know what you're saying here, Georgie, but I'd still call Ronaldo a forward, albeit playing wide. I can't remember him doing much defensive work at all last season.

As for this formation, Ferdinand and Vidic are the central defenders, Carrick would probably oust Anderson from the midfield. And the midfield could be pushed towards the right with Giggs starting deeper than Ronaldo - somewhere between 4-2-4 and 4-3-3.
