RedrebelAnother problem I have with people is that they don't know the difference between a winger and an outside midfielder or wide midfielder. Now let me explain the difference let me tell you this is a fact not an opinion, but the differences are simple. A classical winger is more offensive some examples are Cristiano Ronaldo, Arjen Robben, Simao Sabrosa, Ricardo Quaresma, etcet. A winger in some countries is considered a forward. In the pitch they are wide and are closer to the goal than an a wide midfielder. This gives to more crosses and more offensive power. Now the wide midfielder is different. They defend and attack at the same time. Meaning they support offense and defense, but crosses will not be abundant and offensive power will not be as powerful, but the team would be more solid and more safe. Some examples are David Beckham and Ryan Giggs. So don't confuse a winger and outside midfielder.

sp88Good point, well made. But I think most football fans would know the difference.
