Robert O'CarlosI was watching the Liverpool v. West Ham game on TV a few days ago and it was 0-0 at half time. Jokingly, I said to my girlfriend that Gerrard would go down for a penalty in the 89th minute if it stayed like that. I laughed like a drain when he did exactly that around the 91st minute.
;-)
Steven Gerrard is a phenominally good player, no question one of the finest English players of any generation. But why he's developed this habit of going down as soon as he crosses the 18 yard line when Liverpool need a goal is beyond me. I've seen it on numerous occasions over the last 3/4 years and it really bugs me.
All it's saying is that Liverpool aren't good enough to get consistently good results without resorting to cheating.
Anyone care to comment?

nvrTo be honest I wasn't aware that he made diving a habit till I saw this collection. Good find Rob.
FA can ban or lift bans on video evidence. Why not use that for divings? Add a yellow card to his account if the ref missed that. If he already had another yellow in that game, treat it as red and suspend him for the next game.

Yes, women are a wonderful accessory to modern life, aren't they?

Robert O'CarlosStill not convinced he deserved a pen when he did it against Pernia recently, either.

Agent_LewisIt's a shame that some of the best players of the world would have to cheat like this when the game is on the line. Even one of my favorite strikers, Hernan Crespo, resorted to this while he was playing at Chelsea. (I guess he probably picked it up from Didier "Jacques Cousteau" Drogba.) If anything, I wish that there would be a fifth official in the press box that could relay info to the head ref on the pitch should there be a call that could change the game. It probably won't happen though.

theformationnerd123Off course they are. but Way to go ;)

Robert O'CarlosIt's the modern game. Sadly, I'm too young to remember the oft quoted 'golden age' when football was about entertaining people rather than being results driven. Sky has a lot to answer for.

Robert O'CarlosJust an update here.
Listening to the Arsenal/Liverpool match (21/12/08) and the commentators have just spent a couple of minutes discussing the sad state of affairs in modern football as evidenced by Steven Gerrard diving with about 10 minutes to go.
;-D
