best coach 88John mikel obi and essien are strong defensive midfielders. Lampard and Ballack are attacking midfielders, so Kalou is centre forward(CF) not striker and 1 striker is drogba.

ZolaI have a feeling that Scolari is not really fond of Kalou. He doesn't play him unless he absolutely has to.
And Deco is too good to leave out.

Robert O'CarlosWhen have Chelsea played this system? It's usually 4-5-1 / 4-3-3 that Scolari plays with them, n'est-pas? And Zola's right - Deco needs to be on the pitch. Drop Obi-Wan Kenobhead and Kalou, and get Deco and Joe Cole on!
Job's a good 'un. ;-)

RedrebelIsn't a centre forward a striker?
10.12.2008
RedrebelYou mean Kalou is a second striker/shadow striker/9.5 striker?

Robert O'CarlosJust to come back to Redrebel here. There is a slight difference between a centre forward and a striker.
A striker is there only to finish a move and look to strike at goal whenever he can. A centre forward is a more rounded player who can shield the ball from defenses, make passes, tackle and isn't necessarily the attacking point of the system.
So Inzaghi is a striker, Berbatov is a centre forward.
It's a bit pedantic and only a matter of terminology I know, but it's the generally accepted difference.

RedrebelNo, a striker is a striker no matter what, I know some people call them different names. A centre forward is a striker and that's the truth. A centre forward even sometimes is called a target man, but a target man is a striker. I know what you mean by saying Berbatov is a target man. And Inzaghi is more of an in-and-out forward. But, the role is the same, "to score goals". They are only called different names to describe the strikers style of play. So, the position is the same, but the style of play is different.
