willie this weekend, we are to witness the two greatest soccer nations battle on the grounds of rosario. perhaps the fiercest & most popular rivalry in the game will be played out as the whole world detaches itself from the real world to tune in on their tvs on this epic battle between argentina & brasil. this is what futból is all about.
everyone here knows who i support & may find this article biased, but what can you expect. on saturday night, the boys in blue in white will square off in a home match against eternal rivals brasil. this game is not just about gaining maximum points, but about pride, respect, dignity, & simply for the game. argentina desperately need the points, but brasil will certainly not look for a draw, well, hopefully not. with a crowd of over 45,000 argentina are expected to produce in front of their fans in rosario & all over the world for that matter. i'm one who will be glued to the television set w/ my kit & scarf, chanting & shouting for a team that can't hear me, but hopefully feel me.
six players in the line-up were previously defeated in the copa america 2007 which we were shockingly defeated 3-0 w/ arguably the best team in the world at the time. revenge will definitely be on the minds of the boys & i expect nothing but their very best, for thats all we can ask. tomorrow, nothing else matters besides this game. whatever situation your in, maybe this is the one moment us argentine fans can finally rejoice & maybe sleep a little better knowing things actually went our way. i am deeply in love with this team & would have it hard if we were to lose. i think football would lose some life if were are to fail. the copa defeat hurt so much, i cried until my eyes could not long cry, til my heart was tired of sorrow, til i was just sick of lying in my room looking to the ceiling for answers. but, the joy of watching the team throughout the weeks reminded me of why i continue to support them. the beauty of their play, their lack of fear of defeat, their intentions of satisfying their hungry fans is what made their futbol complete, like poetry & art entangled to a rhythmic beat.
i want that to return. i want argentina to regain its way. i want them to win. do i believe they can win? yes. i believe they can unleash a force stronger than the olympian gods on the brazilians. but even if defeat is inflicted, i will continue to chant their name til the end & defend them no matter the results. it's so easy to bet against argentina, but i truly believe we can cement our place & achieve the miracles we fans desperately pray for. for this sport is endless, we win, we lose, but never do we lose faith. maybe this is what will separate us from the rest, the faith in that our team can emerge from the shadows of its rivals. for the sake of futbol, lets hope so.
let the best team win, vamos argentina

FeriAtsTerrible defending at the set piece. A team like Argentina shouldn't let a free header in the box. It looks downhill for Brazil after this one.

willietwo goals down, we can still do it.

FeriAtsArgentina didn't seem to have it what it takes to turn around that game. Even after they scored their goal.

CaptainGerardIs losing this game such a big deal? Aren't they still on the 4th spot? Even if they slip to 5th, isn't the play off route still open?

willieoh it's a huge deal. losing to your rivals on home ground & allowing them to qualify is shameful. argentina was lucky enough it's rivals all lost but now colombia & ecuador sit 2 points below, & we still have to play paraguay & uruguay at home. we don't just want to qualify, we want to win & at this point it seems impossible.

CaptainGerardI should have said "apart from the rivalry"...
The matter is still at your own hands. That seems positive to me. Uruguay's unexpected loss is God send to you.
Is the Argentinian public still behind Maradona?

williewe can still win our final games as we still have a good team. we just have to beat paraguay
i believe 60%-70% believe we wont qualify, with most people calling for his resignation.

FeriAtsI guess the ball is in AFA's court now. The experiment didn't work, it is time to pull the plug. They have to get someone in who means serious business.

CaptainGerardThe mattet is still in Argentinian's hands but it's slippier than ever. That Uruguay game will be a huge one.

Robert O'CarlosAs Maradona has always enjoyed godlike status in Argentina, I wonder what the national team failing to qualify would mean for how he is perceived?

nvrI heard that he called Ariel Ortega to squad after 6 years. He still must be on crack.
