433Is this the formation of the future? It has slowly replaced the tarditional 4-4-2 in La Liga and some teams in the Premier league has also utilized it.

nvrI would say, it's the formation of today. Look what Barca and Arsenal are playing already.

It requires top players tho, I don't suppose every team can pull this with ease.

nvrI find it hard to classify it as a 433 when Song and Denilson clearly does not have the license to go forwards as much as Fabregas do. Arshavin and Rosicky do similar amounts of defending and attacking with Fabregas, so I take them as one band. It is 4-2-3-1 for me.

Same goes for Barca I suppose.

TechGuyatNYIMO 4-2-3-1 is the best formation

Robert O'CarlosI think, more than anything, what has led to the shift in formation is the forward line rather than the midfield.

We've seen that more and more clubs prefer playing with only 1 dedicated forward and using midfield runners or wingers cutting inside. That system lends itself to 4-3-3/4-5-1 formations.

Also, heading is nowhere near so important a weapon offensively as it was 20/30 years ago, with the focus on speed and trickery rather than power now. Wingers able to cross effectively not so vital in today's game?
