kabulblueHere is the actual PFA Team of the Year:
Hart (Birmingham), Ivanovic (Chelsea), Vermaelen (Arsenal), Dunne (Aston Villa), Evra (Manchester United), Fábregas (Arsenal), Milner (Aston Villa), Fletcher, Valencia, Rooney (all United), Drogba (Chelsea).
I have made a couple of changes due to what I think are glaring ommissions. Here are my seven subs:
VdS, Evra, Dawson, Milner, Bale, Nani, Bent

nvrHart had a good season, no doubt about it, but VDS was much better than him. Hart was probably selected there for the big improvement he had shown.
Dunne is not even the best defender at Villa. Cuellar was a lot better than him. Vidic, Terry(despite all he went through) and Dawson has been all better than the Villa pair.
I agree with you on Malouda, kabulblue. He not only has been in great form, but also won Chelsea a couple of games where they looked like not cutting it.

kabulblueYeah Hart and VDS were a toss up but I think Hart has been excellent for a midtable side so gets the nod. I actually think Gomes might also have been the best keeper.
On Dunne...you are are right about Cuellar...an oversight on my part. Dawson for has late season run was a good shout too (I had him on the bench for my team).
I think it is pretty hard to select this team because you can make arguments for many players. For instance my team has no Spurs starters, no City starters, and only one Villa player.
There are arguments to be had on any team selected but thought leaving out Malouda (16 goals) and Lampard (25 goals) from midfield smacks of trying to represent as many different teams as possible, which is not really the point.

DaveLampard over Gibson, no question. Not sure how that happened anyway. I think I would take Malouda over Valencia and leave Milner in. I like Ashley Cole over Evra as well, if it weren't for injuries that's the way it would have been anyways.

kabulblueI can see the point of keeping Milner as he has been excellent but I was trying to keep the team a recognisable formation instead of just ramming players in and thought that Valencia has been excellent this year.
I cannot work out Ashley Cole being omitted because he has only been injured for the last month or so when all the voting had mostly been done. If he had been out for ages like Essien I could understand but not for the time has been out. The general complaint about the PFA award is that it is based too much on what happens in the first 2/3 of the Premier League when Cole was quite clearly the best left-back in the league.
And yes the idea of Fletcher over Lampard is a bit of a joke comparing their respective records this season. Fletcher is a decent workhorse but hardly in Lampard's league - in Spain Lampard is very respected, probably more than in England, which goes to show the outright bias most fans in England adopt with opposition players even if they are English.

Jaap StamWell, I don't really think there was much of difference between Evra's and Cole's performances. It's really a matter of club allegiance who to pick as the best left back of the season.

say yesI'd put Evra over Cole, although both have had fantastic seasons.
Also i'm shocked no one seems to be mentioning Reina for GK. He's been without a doubt the best goalkeeper in the league this season imo.

ZolaHas he? Liverpool's current position in the table doesn't tell.

Robert O'CarlosReina isn't a bad shout, only Chelsea and United have shipped less goals this season (so far).
I guess the overall team performance does have some psychological influence on picking players.
I understand Hahnemann has the best save ratio in the Premier League, for instance, but who's going to vote for a player from Wolves?
