AzulOroA possible formation for the Spanish NT, with special emphasis on the central midfielders. Xavi, Fabregas and Iniesta are responsible for providing the killer balls for Torres and Villa. The fullbacks will provide most of the width, while Marcos Senna will track back to cover the gaps they might leave behind.

nvrWill Torres make it to the World Cup? I've read he'll recover to play for the first game, but will not be able to play friendlies and train with the team. I wonder how many games before he finds his footing.
I haven't watched Senna in a while, but I remember he was well over 30 last time. Is he still good?

willieSpain play better actually w/ only one forward since they have an abundance of midfield elegance. They could play something like Barca, a 4-2-4 ish buy adding silva & removing fabregas, making their play more dynamic, but what they have now is excellent too.

foxrocksI gather that most of the guys prefer playing five midfielders and one striker (Villa), but they don't do it generally because dropping Torres would be too controversial! I do think that if Torres isn't fully fit, the Spanish won't actually be too upset (as long as Fabregas recovers that is...)
Re: Senna. He was majestic in Euro 2008 but I gather with his advancing years he is now only third choice defensive midfielder, behind Alonso and Busquets.
I think if everyone is fit they will play:
GK Casillas; RB Ramos, CB Pique, CB Puyol, LB Arbeloa/Capdevila; DM Alonso; RM Iniesta, CM Xavi, LM Silva; CF Villa, CF Torres

nvrGood points about Alonso and Busquets, foxrocks. Both are much more in form than Senna.
Anyone thinks, Reyes will get a call too? He's been quite good with Atletico Madrid this season.

foxrocksReyes has indeed been good this year, but as Spain will only generally use wingers as a 'Plan B', I think they will only take one for each flank and they will be Mata and Navas.

ZolaThe key players in the team are of Barca origin. Del Bosque has a Real Madrid ground. I have a couple of quids on Spain not doing too well. A Barca-Real clash is what I'm betting on.
