SiPeakeThis side lost the European Cup Final to Liverpool, after being 3-0 up at half time. But surely it must be one of the greatest sides ever assembled?

RoberticusThey were incredible; and no, back then their legs still hadn't gone. Cafu still had reserves of stamina, Kaka was a piston and Gattuso ran for the entire team.

Just to point out some variations that existed; Crespo came on loan from Chelsea for 2004-05 and replaced Jon Dahl Tomasson (terrific player) up front. Pippo Inzaghi was also another striking option.

THe second tweak was the occassional replacing of Seedorf with Ambrosini so as to allow more bite in midfield (especially when playing with two strikers)

Another adjustment entailed the jettisoning of one of the strikers (usually the one who wasn't Shevchenko, and much to the chagrin of Berlusconi) and adding another playmaker- Rui Costa alongside Kaka to make it a Christmas tree. This add the effect of making Milan more patient in build-up whereas the two striker system made them positively more vertical (and lethal in my opinion).

Former Madrid & Spain player (and current Getafe coach) Michel said at the time they were probably the most fluid midfield in Europe.
