LevBernerAs you can see here, it is IMPERATIVE that the wingers follow their players down when the opponent is on the attack. Either they will check off their coverage with the fullbacks, or follow their players to the inside. The CB in this formation has moved down, and with the HM and CM moving down as well, it is a basic defense of 6 players with the midfield taking care of any shallow midfielders. One striker can come down to help out on the defense, but one can stay slightly higher, which will both prevent the opponent's defense from getting into the play, and give us an opportunity for a break the other way. Communication from all, but especially the keeper and the holding midfield and centerback is the only way that this can work. But it can work so well!
