CanadianFootyFirst Half:
Canada started off very well and held their own at the start of the match. Ecuador attempted several balls over the top of the defense for the attacker to run onto. Luckily out defense headed the ball away on each occasion. Out of some intricate play in front of the Ecuador box Dunfield found himself wide open let fly and put Canada up by one. Dunfield and a few other players jumped over into the bleachers to celebrate with the fans. An awesome start.
This gave Canada the confidence they needed and very nearly scored on two plays shortly after. Simeon Jackson also showed his quality by letting one rip from distance and making the Ecuador keeper spring into action to barely make the save.
Borjan looked fantastic in goal for Canada. He pulled off some great saves when Ecuador split our back line. Canada is lucky to have him in goal.
Second Half:
DeGuzman started the second half in place of Dunfield. Canada got off to a great start in this half as well with some effective attacking play early on.
Amazingly just over the 60 minute mark Canada concede 2 goal in a spam of a few minutes. One by a fantastic 30 yard strike. Since Simpson came off Canada seemed to lose it's wide play. Hart eventually replace Johnson with Peters in hopes of bringing some width back into our game. I can see how Hutchinson's game improved since moving to PSV. He traps the ball really well and has great vision with his passing.
In the last couple minutes of injury time controversy occurred when Canada took a quick restart in front of the box and Ricketts bypassed his man and curled the ball into the net to equalize. A 2 2 draw with Ecuador being the final result. Ecuador wasted the last remnants of injury time arguing with the ref. Great game.
