Aidan0sMesut Özil(1-0) 13
David Villa(1-1) 36
Lionel Messi(1-2)45
Xabi Alonso(2-2)54
Points of note
Ronaldo and ozil's defensive contribution was far better than usual.
Madrid's finishing weren't that clinical barca were(although usually the last thing to return to a team in a new season is there goalscoring boots.
Benzema looked bright but would be alot happier if he had managed to score although he did well to set up the first goal
Eventhough Di maria provided little throughout his time on the pitch it was still a little surprising to see him come off (considering ozil, madrids best player tonight, usully only has the fitness to last about 70 mins and usually starts to fade out after about 60 aswell as the fact that he worked harder than usual and its his first game of the season and the fact that they had kaka on the bench for him as opposed to callejon)
Madrid committed alot of fouls but in these type of tournaments the refering is usually very soft.
I didn't particularly like the team mou fielded against a full strength barca team it would probably suffer although he might have fielded it because it wasn't a full strength barca team aswell.
The defense occasionally tracked the runs of barca players poorly and the structure wasn't great but it was the first game back aswell

nvrThere were a number of positives about Real Madrid:
*Benzema looked lively. He must have shed a few pounds.
*Madrid as a team looked more confident
*They attacked a lot
and a few negatives:
*They are still using bullying as a tactic. Had this been a regular season game, they wouldn't finish with 11.
*Ronaldo is still too selfish in his game.
*They still leak goals
I can't see Real Madrid catching up with Barca this season. Barca was with a suboptimal team on the field, and yet Real Madrid couldn't beat them.
