NonstopKOPFar better looking team for a while. Nice core of players to improve on in the future. Especially if they get into CL.

david1993liverpool are a lot better. but i think liverpool shudnt of left go
meireless as he add speed and qucik passin to the midfiedl.

i taught liverpool needed 1 or 2 more players to complete the team but then they go nd sell meirless.

they got rid of a lot of players cause they were a waste and cost to much to keep

NonstopKOPI'm just happy we improved the team. It may not be the best squad around but overall it's a good improvement in just one transfer window. We got rid of junk and added fresh younger talent. Its a far better squad to add to next season. As for Meireles I thought he was a great little player. In the end he wanted more wages/improved contract but I think LFC did not like how he went about it. He in turn got less games and both them things made him put in a transfer request but every team loses good players sadly. Sometimes it just does not work out and I think Kenny wanted players in the team that play for the shirt or who would burst their gut trying to win (not that Meireles didn't but he would when he got more unhappy) and not worrying about wages or being unhappy at the club. He did bring something new to our game and in a ideal world I would want to keep him. On the other had we have good players here now and younger to. Meireles wasn't getting any younger so we did cash in even tho we didn't want him to go. Chelsea gave us £50mill for Torres, £13-15mill for Meireles and £5-6m for Benayoun. No disrespect to any Chelsea fan but thanks for the new signings.

david1993carrol is 22 but their is a fitness isssue wit him and persoanlly i think the reason carroll is doin bad is not his fault i blame liverpool team

because

when carroll dont play liverpool pass more and wait for an opening to arise and then play the pass if they cant find one

when carroll is playin if they cant find an opening pass they boot it up to carrol and he cant do it that way

if liverpool build the play up like they do for when carroll isnt their when carroll plays i see him playin better

nd he needs improve fitness

padAs far as I know it was £12mil for Meireles (£0.5mil more than you paid). So in total it was £67.5mil. You spent £69mil on Carrol, Downing and Henderson so yeah no problem. It's the cycle of money. But if another Liverpool fan accuses Chelsea of inflating prices...
On another topic you have a good squad. Not good enough for any higher than 3rd but good enough that i can't see Arsenal or Spurs finishing above you. Once you get CL football you'll be able to buy some more players and sell a few of the less able players. I think the main problem with your squad will be depth. You shouldn't have to worry too much about that with no European football. Probably a blessing in disguise.

mbillington10david1993 excellent analysis of Carroll. You are spot on, Liverpool change their playing style when he's on the pitch, through no fault of Carroll's. He's actually played really well so far this season, dominating in the air against Sunderland and great link up play against Arsenal, also worth remembering he's had two goals disallowed.

I do think you are very harsh on Benitez though. He wanted to solve Liverpool's left wing problem by buying Jovetic, who was available for £12m at the time. But was told that he would have to raise the money from player sales. And from our squad, Alonso was the only asset who could generate a high fee and who was replacable(ish). Alonso wasn't available for less than £20m, the idea was to sell Alonso for £25m then get Barry and Jovetic using that money, it fell through because Villa wouldn't lower their £18m asking price. Also, Liverpool fans will remember that Alonso was very inconsistent in the seasons before Benitez tried to sell him, and his last season was the only one where he performed at his best for long periods.

If Ferguson was told he had to raise the money to buy De Gea, Jones, and Young, surely you wouldn't blame him for selling Berbatov, Nani, and Evans? And Mascherano left because Hicks and Gillett were selling off Liverpool's best assets without raising the funds, nothing to do with Benitez. Without Benitez, Liverpool wouldn't have qualified for the Champions League 4 out of 5 seasons, won the champions league, got to two champions league finals, won the FA Cup, Community Shield, Super Cup, as well as beating Man Utd 4-1 at Old Trafford and defeating Real Madrid 5-0 on aggregate. Liverpool's problems stemmed from Hicks and Gillett, not Benitez.

@pad. I agree I do think we lack a bit of depth, and its very astute to point out it probably won't matter as much without European football. It seems the owners have prioritised reducing the wage bill so that if we do qualify for Europe again we will have the finances to add more depth.
