outspokenI coach U12 9v9 and was looking for some formations to discuss with the kids. Currently we use 3-3-2 as it's pretty much standard in the league, but I see some teams keeping 1 or 2 players at defense and using more of a wingback style in approach. Any ideas from other coaches or fans willing to share thoughts? I'm not sure if you can see my profile/formations but I've made our default formation.

nvrNo, your formations are not visible to us, unless you post them. You have to paste the link of the formation if you want to show it in this topic.
Are kids under 12 mature enough to stick to a formation?

outspokenthanks, yes I agree and have seen in my squad they are capable of maintaining formations and understand their roles in the match.
2-4-2, this could work. It depends on who is available to play as you say. as this is a youth team some of our players are not yet mature as they start U12 at the age of 10, the younger ones lose focus early and would need to be rotated out or kept at the forward/cb role. we have two excellent wingers so they would be able to work the flanks in this formation. I'll give it a try for next week.
thanks.
