theformationnerd123This is a classic counter attack wich by the way is a 4-4-2 and you can see it. well some teams when they counter attack they would change there formation while playing into a 1-1-8. to counter attack. whats the meaning of a Counter Attack

Counter Attack means- The whole Attacking players will stay up front.

Robert O'CarlosTo me, this looks nothing like a counter attacking formation, but perhaps I'm misunderstanding at what stage of the play you're trying to show. Simply looks like what a 4-4-2 would look like when your team is in possession and pressing the opposition box.
A counter attacking team is one that sits back and plays more defensively (while having a couple of attacking options waiting for the play), with the intention of drawing the opposition into an advanced position so that there is room to play the ball into when you win possession. As in drawing the opposition into an 'attack' and then looking to 'counter'.
