But walking out of the contract after a game and when the transfer window is closed is totally crazy. And his reason? He wants to fight for his place in England Team for the World Cup. How will not playing till January help that cause?

Or is there an obscure clause somewhere in the rulebook that will allow him to play?

nvrHe could have stayed till January. 3 months without football and he'll need a couple to get fit again. He'll have about 3 months to impress Capello. His chances are very very slim.

But the given reason he walked out was not to fight for an England place, which is just a smokescreen for having made a risky snap decision. It was because certain promises of ambition made to him were not fulfilled. How he can come to that conclusion in 4 weeks I don't know but there you go.
