ashburtonThis will be interesting and useful when RVP is back. This way we can use the strength of both Chamakh and RVP, as they give up two different and complementary dimensions of attack. Chamakh has a good work-rate and he can use his strength to drag a few defenders to create space for RVP. The flanks will be filled up with Arshavin/Rosicky/Wilshere/Walcott/Nasri. Both wingers have defensive duties when the full-backs make overlapping runs. In the central midfield, Song sits in front of the defense, and Cesc plays ahead of him. This will be also useful for one more reason. Among the flank players, especially Arshavin and to some extent Nasri are sometimes lazy to cover for the full-backs when playing in a 4-2-3-1 formation. But, in this formation they are playing in a little less forward role than usual, and will have to cover less ground while dropping back.

nvrIf this comes after yesterday's game, it would have beem worse.
What we needed was more cover in midfield. We could have done with Song, Diaby and Denilson on the pitch at the the same time. Yes the attack would have suffered, but at least we wouldn't have conceded so easily.
