RedRae7Is this the outside of the box sort of plan United need to contain and ultimately beat the behemoth that is Barcelona? your own suggestions please.

The main problem is you basically have Fletcher patrolling the midfield by himself and that would mean he would be overrun by the midfield of Barca and so it wouldn't matter how many defenders we had they would create so many chances that they would eventually get 1.
Playing their usual 4-4-2 with Park as one of the wingers would be the best option as Park would help out the 2 CM's in harassing the midfield of Barcelona. Rooney would also drop back a bit to help defend leaving Hernandez and Nani/Valencia to exploit Barca with their pace

RFMHSeems too lightweight in the middle and just inviting pressure onto Man Utd. 5 at the back is always going to seem that way too, With Carrick and Fletcher there it would be stronger to allow Rooney, Nani and Hernandez to break with pace.
Leaving out Nani is also a big mistake.
