hazlAfter much debate over what team Man Utd should put out against Barcelona in the UCL final, I have decided on the above formation. In my opinion, it capitalizes on all the most important aspects of our current squad, is nicely balanced, and should be enough to overpower Barca in every aspect of the game.

Playing in a (3-)5-4-6-4 formation, the key to this plan is to overwhelm Barca all the time. Fletcher is to stick closely to Messi, Park is covering Busquets, hence robbing Xavi and Iniesta of their usually safe back-pass to him. Anderson is constantly harassing those two midfield generals, and Carrick is staying back, shielding the defense.

With captain Vidic in the center of the back 5, Smalling and Ferdinand are able to help put pressure on the midfield - the added security of Kuszczak and Lindegaard also makes this safer. O'Shea and Fabio are instructed to shadow Pedro and Villa.

On the wings, Evra/Nani and Valencia/Rafael will attack from the flanks, hopefully overwhelming Abidal and Alves, trying to get in crosses towards the forwards.

Giggs and Scholes are charged with maintaining team composure and ball possession - Berbatov will also be useful in winning time on the ball and finding the right passes. Hernandez will keep running and Pique and Puyol, pulling them out of position for Rooney and Owen to exploit.

All in all, I can't see Barcelona getting past this Man Utd XXII.

JimmyGuitaristI'm not sure. Take Owen off, and it might stand more of a chance.
