Cooperman45I think he will stick to his tried and tested formation which proved so successful for him at Porto. This includes one winger staying wide to provide width. The other winger is a classic inside forward, with direct running inside with and without the ball. If Boas buys Hulk he has the archetype of a right inside forward, however if he doesn't and gets Falcao instead then I think Torres could get converted into a left sided inside forward with Falcao staying up front, Kalou and Anelka will provide cover. I've left the right back unnamed as I have no idea who he will deploy here as Ivanovic is unlikely to get chosen due to him not being the greatest going forward.
If Lampard gets the role as the attacking midfielder he will have to be able to move into the channels when necessary to replace the winger, however if the full back is sufficiently attacking this may not be as necessary. The other midfield roles are also up in the air as Mikel is probably the weakest player in this side, this may lead to Essien becoming the defensive midfielder and Moutinho getting brought into the side.

OnceABlueWhatever his tactics, he'll be under immense pressure. Working under Roman in itself is a tremendous ask, add the comparisons to Mo, he'll have a very tough time. Let's hope he has balls of steel.
He'll probably want to bring in some fresh legs in midfield. We might see Ramires, Kakuta, McEachran and such get more minutes and shine.

Cooperman45forgot about Ramires, Kakuta and McEachran are overrated and I doubt will get played.

OnceABlueKakuta and McEachran are youngsters. The latter looked promising in the games he played. Overrated is a bit too strong a word for them. You might be right about Ramires, but you know, him being Brazilian and Villa Boas Portugese, the common language might help.
