adinoosmToday i was thinking about all the different ways Barcelona could use Song, and i thought of a pretty improbable, but pretty interesting use for Song!
Song could pull off a sort of 'David Luiz role' by stepping out of defense and joining the midfield.
Song is a very versatile player and can make Barcelona even more tactically versatile than they already are!
I think this is improbable though because Tito likes 4-3-3 more (with Alves moving up on occasion) and I'm not sure he would use Song in the defensive line. Even though Song used to be a center back earlier in his career, I think he will use Song in the defensive very sparingly.
Another reason i think this is improbable is because this would push Busquets further up the field, which i think is wrong because im not sure he would be comfortable in the position (Iniesta's usual position).
If Song were to step up out of defense into the midfield and become the midfield pivot man it would be another version of the Barca 3-diamond-3. Alba and Alves would be comfortable int he back 3 when they have to go and meet wingers out wide, unlike if a center back is draggged out wide, they tend to makem ore mistake because it is unnatural for them (much like when England played with 3 in the back and Neville and Pearce played as the outer-centerbacks, but they were realy fullbacks so they were comfortable out wide). This would push Iniesta in right behind Messi, and push Busquets into Iniesta's position. Messi and Iniesta can play like Messi and Fabregas and constanly switch between who drops and who plays higher up! (maybe it would be a good system if Fabregas were to start?) It's an interesting idea, improbably though! Thought i would share it! Many different possibilities, hope you enjoyed this little random idea!

chicarooneyCool team, My team would be
Valdes
Alves Pique Mascherano Alba
Busquets Song
Sanchez Xavi Iniesta
Messi
I'd drop Fabregas and Pedro but they can come on as impact subs, Barcelona should use this system and their team should beat Real Madrid to the title, maybe even the Champions League if you're lucky!!

chicarooneyJust incase you can't read my formation it's a 4-2-3-1 with Xavi behind Messi.

JimmyGuitarist@chicarooney
Barcelona wouldn't play with a 4-2-3-1.
Johan Cruyff - “The problem with two holding midfielders is quite simple, but somehow many coaches don’t see it. The build up happens too slow – holding midfielders always need that extra touch, always need to have a look when they have the ball already. That takes time away. The opponent can position themselves to stop the killer pass and the forwards are all marked. Plus, having two holding midfielders means there is one less creative playmaker. It’s a double edged sword…we need one good controller in midfield and two creative players on the wide midfield spots, like Barcelona does…if our build up is slow, the effectiveness of our creative forwards will decrease significantly. Robin van Persie got a lot of criticism last World Cup, and I believe it was because we played to defensively and passively. We became a counter team. Our best players are up front, though. They need the ball, and they need it quick.”

liomessi1324Yes it would be intresting to see A.Song playing a D.Luiz role but,it just would not work.Alves and Alba would not be able to push high up the field and Busquets would be to far up.That is the exact opposite of what Barca do.

JimmyGuitaristI'd like to see Tito actually try out the 3-4-3 occasionally. Lots seem to think he'll bring a more direct Barca, won't experiment like Pep did but Tito was behind the tactics; as was Pep obviously; but they both just talked & talked tactics, agreed & disagreed. That's why he was the most highly paid assistant manager, & that was his main reason as Pep's assistant manager for his tactical prowess.
I definitely can't see Tito changing things around just to fit Song into the line-up. There's no chance he'll bench Busquets, but I can see him having a lot of minutes to rest players.

Lualua49Xavi behind Messi????? That's a mistake. Xavi plays as midfilder no such as "enganche". And if you play with 3 defenders it's a horrible idea choose 2 players as Alves or Alba, it's more logically choose Alves -Pique- Puyol or Mascherano .
