what is the biggest flaw when playing with a sweeper in the defence

Supreme Guasawhen playing with a sweeper I find that the rest of the defence relies on the sweeper to clean things up a little too much when the stopper is given to much freedom to go up and attack or on the counter what is a good strategy to combat this flaw on the defense play more compact or have the other defenders marking the strikers

OnceABlueMy 2 pence; it's only effective against teams attacking from the middle. If your opponents are coming down the flanks, you'll find your sweeper being ambushed a lot.
