TheNearPostIf we're actually planning on taking the game to Mexico, we need to use three central midfielders who will battle and win the ball back. Moreover, we need a link. We need somebody between our midfield and attack that can join the two to overload the defense. Dempsey is the closest thing we have to a player who can do that, so I say we use him for it. Zusi swings in crosses from one flank, Beasley from the other.
The big thing is getting our central midfield past theirs and running at the opposition defense. Otherwise, the U.S. will be outnumbered in attack with three players up against four defenders. Dempsey, as always, will be important.

mmurphy14I like it, although I think you need to start Gomez over Zusi because of form, work rate and experience in the Mexican league.
