TheNearPostBeasley's an interesting option on that left side. His use is his energy and ability in both offense and defense. He can chase a man back to his own half and still burst forward when his team wins the ball back. He's not a maestro, but he can still threaten offensively, bringing good pace, guile, and crossing. Likewise, he's not a stopper, but he is able to make tackles, is committed on defense, and can get back quickly. Most importantly, he brings numbers and energy to both sides of the ball. His versatility makes him a good squad player, and he links play simply through his rambunctious running.

This is a diamond similar to what the U.S. used against Slovenia. Edu and Cameron bring more pace to the side than Beckerman and Goodson, who were both shown to be slow of foot. Chandler is now on his natural side, with Johnson taking his spot at left back while the more defensively-aware Beasley slides in higher up the pitch. Donovan is in place of Buddle, and should help the U.S. link play and counterattack in this free role.
