david1993 England are struggling to keep up with other countries in the development of young talents, Other countries such as Spain, Holland, Germany, Brazil, Argentina etc are producing far greater numbers of young players and I agree they are struggling to produce young talents. What can England do to change this? I have ideas of my own but would like to hear other peoples opinions on this topic.

OnceABlueI don't think England is struggling to develop talent. To me it feels more like she is struggling to get the talent interested in the national team. Rewards and demands of club football are so high playing for the national side is a burden for most players.

david1993It shouldn't be a burden; it should be a privilege to represent your country. I do think England is struggling to produce top quality young talents.at different age groups. Other countries are nurturing young talents in bundles were as England are only producing limited numbers.

OnceABlueIt wouldn't be a burden on you and me. But then again we are not making £100K a week, well, at least not me. That kind of dosh probably changes their perspective quite a bit.
I think I read it on Simon Cuper's column. England is producing talent proportional to its population. There are some outliers like the Netherlands and such but for most national teams it seems to be a function of country's population.
