RedrebelWhen Mexican teams play with the 4-4-2 most of the time they use two defensive midfielders. And the only difference from a regular 4-4-2 is that a team that uses it uses two center-midfielders instead of two defensive midfielders. This formation is very solid, but as with all formations it has some problems. The only possible way to score is by crossing, because defensive midfielders don't go up as often as center-midfielders. Thus, the wide midfielders will lack support and giving them a good ball can be very difficult.

FeriAtsWell, this is a bog standart 442 if you don't have an AMF. Put two guys who can dribble fast on the wings, have a tall guy in the box and there you go, you recipe for cheap success.

RedrebelIt does not always work. Outside midfielders can't do everything themselves they need support. They need somebody to play them good balls so they can do what they know to do best "crossing".

FeriAtsI didn't say it always works. But ifyou have limited budget as a team, it's your best bet.
