xHEATHENxI see Lindegaard's strength and excellent start on the U.S. tour as a key factor in putting him in goal.
Fabio's speed on the back right as well as his ability to carry the ball up the line aids in United's ability to counter attack.
Same goes for Evra.
Smalling and Evans size aids in keeping the center back guarded from headers and any of those sneaky attackers from pushing by, also Smalling can push forward and makes a good target for headers from corners.
Nani and Young both have speed, the ability to control the ball, curve the ball and at times hit long shots or find their way in the box to tap a goal in.
Rooney has the strength, endurance, speed and power to play as both a forward and midfield player and the foot to drill in those long shots and force his way into the box to tap in goals.
Berbatov is a finesse player and has great control of the ball he makes an excellent striker because he finds ways into the box and is always in the right place at the right time.

SanzThe defence is reasonably explained by injuries to Vidic and Ferdinand, but the goalkeeper choice is highly questionable and the midfield is plain inexplicable. Michael Owen?!
