Full Backs: Since we are playing a 4-4-2 diamond formation, it is very important that full backs know when to provide the width the team needs and when to stay discipline. Obviously, you have all the excuse to choose the former once you have the ball in your feet.
1) the most straight forward is to play a simple one-two to the LCM (or AM). It could be a forward run one-two (dash line indicates forward run) or just a simple tap tap one-two at the same position to buy some time. It is important not the lose the ball at that position as you will be the one responsible to track back as well.
2) Another aggressive option is to provide a through ball to forward, if you both see the opportunities (as oppose to giving the ball away). Of course, sqauring a surprise ball in the box to our target man can be a good option in times.
3) Two retreat options behind are the DM and CB. Of course DM is the more risky one so make sure the ball can reach his feet before you give the pass
The other full back on the other hand should stay in position as a thrid CB, in cases when one full back is advancing. However, you should always wait for the opportunity to provide a wide option on the other flank should the play is being switched side. Again, the other full back have to drop. Just remember one go one drop. It is equally important to have one go as well as one drop (as oppose to both dropping). So the KEY here is to communicate well!
